your Yoga Teachers

You will have two qualified and experienced Yoga instructors, both with a different style and bags of experience..

Julee Yew-Crijns – Beginner to Advanced level

I am addicted to yoga movement. I have been on the mat for around 20 years, sharing what I love for 10.  I have been led & mentored by some great teachers but also by awesome teacher friends all enthusiastically sharing, evolving & honing the practice all of this, I feel is not mine to keep but to share which is an honor & a privilege all together.  My main teacher is Shiva Rea, but I also continue to study with other schools of yoga, namely, Anusara Yoga, Jivamukti Yoga and Shadow Yoga

Julee says: “I’m going to be offering a range of practices to get your sweat on or just slooooow down!

We will be starting with meditation every morning, followed by an energising flow practice. And in the evening, there will be a nurturing flow or restorative practice.  Do as much or as little as you wish. It is literally 5 days of me time!

As for yoga practice, we will be on hand to support your practice in whatever way we can.

If you’ve been on retreat with me before, you will know that any time you want to try something- I am there”

Katy Simpson – Beginner to Intermediate Level

I came to Yoga from a love of exercise, realising that you don’t have to throw yourself into a HIT class at the local gym to feel good.  Yoga makes you feel alive, feel de-stressed and so much better about yourself all in one class.  I teach beginners daily at our Studio in Surrey and love to help complete beginners to learn the basics, then watch them advance their practice, which I hope to do during this retreat.   My aim is to help you feel totally different and become so much more connected to this ancient discipline – prepare to be taken on that journey in Portugal.

Is it for me?

The majority of people come on their own and make great friendships, the yoga instructors and their helpers are extremely welcoming, there is always the perfect balance of having people to talk to but having solo time too!

Beginners to Yoga are welcome, we have a specialist Beginners Instructor coming with us, we want to encourage all levels of students to share their experiences and learn from each other.  All equipment is provided – just bring yourself!

Your home for 5 days:

A unique bolt-hole hidden in the heart of this quaint unspoilt marina village.  12 spacious luxury rooms, all ensuite, offering those extra little touches that make your stay.  Hamman stylish towels for the beach, luxury White Company towels for your room.  Air conditioning if you need it, plenty of room to find your own quiet corner.  Two luxury treatment rooms for those little indulgent massages or facials.  Roof top sun drenched swimming pool and sun bathing decks.  Open house teas, coffees and water on tap.  A library with squidgy sofa  seating and a mediation room to use for your own private practice.

Where is it?

A short hop east of Faro, Olhão (pronounced ol-yowng) is one of the Algarve’s marina villages, with a wonderful waterfront and pretty, bustling lanes in its old quarters. Moorish-influenced neighbourhoods and North African feel make it a special place to wander.

The best way to get to know Olhao is to walk out of the front door and wander down to the waterfront. Getting lost in the twisted network of cobbled streets along the way is part of the fun.  When you get to the sea front, there are fabulous food and shopping markets at the water’s edge and a host of restaurants, cafes and bars to relax in along the way.

We love it for it’s down to earth laid back charm, warm and hospitable people, creative community, cobbled streets and faded grandeur.

The Olhao Islands:

The islands are easy to get to from our home (10 min walk to the waterfront):  River taxi’s will take you on trips to the islands.  It takes 10ish minutes depending on the island you go to. With Armona, Culatra, Farol and Deserted islands all very close there is so much choice. each with a slightly different vibe.  You may be lucky and get to see the dolphins too!

Whats not included ?

  • Flights – Faro is the nearest airport
  • Transfers – it’s a 15 mins transfer from Faro, I will put you in touch with other yogis to share transfers
  • River taxi or ferry to the islands and beaches (roughly £5 pp)
  • Treatments – menu provided on booking
  • Cycle tours, cycle hire and walking tours can be arranged from the waterfront tour guides
  • Our abundant breakfasts and light snacks we leave to munch on are generally sufficient to get you through your day.  We don’t provide lunch but that’s because it’s often not needed.
