Why did we choose Karen?

Karen is a professionally trained dancer and has worked in musical theatre, on stage and screen for almost 20 years.

Karen discovered barre whilst travelling in the states, loved it immediately and has since used it (alongside her yoga practice) as a tool to support her dance career. She has been teaching the discipline for 10 years, including time spent as the lead trainer for a Barre Teaching school in London and is therefore the perfect choice for this Ebb&Flow course!

Karen is passionate about the benefits of barre and sees it from a totally holistic point of view. Having used the exercises taught in this course to aid injury rehabilitation following knee surgery, she has personally experienced how the different elements of a barre class can be strengthening both for the body and mind. Karen can’t wait to share her experience, knowledge and passion of all things ‘BARRE’ with you!

How does the course structure work?

  • You will receive a teacher training manual containing all the information you need and some pre-workshop reading materials.
  • You will attend a weekend workshop (16 hours) with us.
  • You will take a theory exam based on the manual and pre-workshop reading material on the second day of the workshop.
  • You will be required to take part in a group class practical assessment as successful completion of the course. This will take place on an agreed date following the workshop but it must be within 4 weeks of the workshop weekend.
  • You will be assigned a ‘buddy’ from your course group to practise with.
  • We will provide feedback within 5 days, but you will also benefit from having instant feedback from your peer group and be able to learn from their teaching on that assessment day.

Why train with us?

We don’t enrol lots of students and are dedicated to small class sizes to offer each student the best connection with your trainer.

  • Small and intimate class sizes
